Initial Assessment

Who is this for?

This is for clients who have had an initial assessment or for families seeking support, such as parents looking for sessions to support their child.

What's involved?

If you have been to an initial assessment, we will have formulated a personalised care plan and hopefully have a sense of what you, or the young person, would like to focus on. The way in which these sessions are carried out varies depending on the focus. These sessions might be attended just by the child or young person, or a parent (or both parents) may attend on their own.

If you are attending as a family, and it is our first time meeting, we will spend some time talking about what difficulties you are facing and how I might be able to help.

Where does it take place?

We can meet at the Burton-On-Trent base or online.

How much does it cost?

50-minute, in person appointment priced at £70

Online session (via Zoom) priced at £60

What's included?

  • Counselling and psychotherapy
  • Psychoeducation
  • Evaluation and monitoring of symptoms and overall mental health and emotional well-being.
  • Review of your personalised care and treatment plan.
  • Family support sessions and/or parenting advice.

How often do we meet?

The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and the focus of therapeutic interventions. Some clients prefer to meet weekly, some prefer fortnightly or monthly.

  • Networking with GPs, CAMHS and other professionals.
  • Producing letters and reports on mental health wellbeing.
  • Referring-on to other services
  • Advice and advocacy for families with children that are finding it hard to access help, such as in school.
